Written by Tony Warriner , employee number one and co-founder of Revolution Software , with a foreword by Charles Cecil , this epic book tells the previously unknown behind-the-scenes story of this popular game developer.

The story begins in the mid-1980s, when high school dropout Tony Warriner wrote a game - Obsidian for the Amstrad CPC - and sent it to Artic Computing, a local games publisher. There he met Charles Cecil , who was looking for cool new games to save the now-ailing publisher. The two hit it off, and four years later they reunited - along with Dave Sykes and Noirin Carmody - to form Revolution Software .

From the beginning, Revolution 's goal was to create the best narrative adventure games, and the company has succeeded, with Beneath a Steel Sky and Broken Sword becoming beloved classics whose popularity continues to grow.

But behind the scenes, the company had to navigate the shark-infested waters of the video game industry, where evil corporate powers constantly tried to trick and conspire for their own short-term gain.

This book tells two important stories. First, how the games were made, and second, how the outside forces acting on the company threatened to destroy it at every step.

This is a book about creativity and the art of making real games. It's a story about independence and going your own way and rejecting the dead hands of corporatism.

The book makes no compromises and offers over 600 pages of exciting texts and many archive photos.
