In 2015, Bitmap Books partnered with arcade enthusiast Tim Nicholls to publish the first edition of Artcade , a labor of love born out of Nicholls' quest to restore his extensive archive of original arcade graphics, spanning titles from the past four decades.

In this expanded edition, Bitmap Books has been able to build on the foundation laid by Nicholls and expand it massively with newly restored graphics and exclusive written content. Nicholls' efforts to bring the artwork of classic coin-operated machines back to life are also at the heart of this revised version, but are accompanied by a wealth of additional artwork kindly contributed by other collectors, restorers and fans. As well as adding a wider range of memorable cover images, Bitmap Books have also added many more images of the side panels and case so readers can get a better idea of ​​the complete machine and what it looked like in its full glory. The format of Artcade Extended has also been changed, in direct response to feedback on the first edition regarding the images running across the spine. The design now has one image per page.

While art remains the focus of Artcade , there's a lot more written content this time around, including a brand new, exclusive interview with the legendary Larry Day, who worked on groundbreaking titles like Moon Patrol and the Catacomb pinball machine. Day's insights into the history of the arcade industry help bring these bold illustrations to life, while an extensive "how-to" chapter - with contributions from Escape Pod, one of the world's leading creators of high-quality restored arcade graphics - serves as a great taster for those readers thinking about acquiring a battered classic slot machine and bringing it back to life.

Artcade comes in a heavy cardboard glow-in-the-dark slipcase, which provides excellent protection for the book.
